MATH

I have really enjoyed working with your sons/daughters this year. It is hard to believe we are already in the last trimester of the school year.  I am really going to miss them next year but at the same time I am excited for them and their future in high school and beyond.

As I said in the last newslink I will be working with the St Helena High School Math Department and counselors concerning math placement for next year.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding your son/daughter’s recommendation please contact me.

The students can expect a final benchmark test in mathematics and that is one of the items used to determine placement in the math level courses next year.

We will be finishing off the year with the following math concepts:

Algebra:  Polynomials & Factoring, Quadratic equations & functions, Graphing Quadratics, Rational Expressions and Equations, Algebra II concepts

General Algebra:  Exponents and Radicals, Polynomials and Factoring

Pre-Algebra: Factors, Fractions, Exponents, Rational Numbers and Equations

ENGLISH

Eighth graders will finish their year in English by completing a life path project, culminating all the career exploration we have done this year with the career panels, college talks, interviews, and other research.  Students will envision their future and plot a path that may take them there.  Their finished product will include writing, artwork, pictures, quotes that inspire them and more in a visual display which we will hang up at the awards ceremony for all to see.
