Parent Involvement

Your Involvement Benefits All of Our Students

St. Helena’s Primary, Elementary, RLS Middle, and High Schools enjoy an exceptional level of parent and community involvement, support and spirit.

Parents and other adults volunteer thousands of hours in support of the programs throughout the district. Volunteers are coming and going at all hours of the school day and before and after school. Parents serve as guest instructors, field trip coordinators and classroom assistants, for example. Parents volunteer in the classrooms, drive on field trips (including overnight excursions), coordinate classroom and school-wide activities, and much more.

Some parents choose to work on the School Site Council, English Language Learners Advisory Committee, or the Parent Teacher Group fundraisers. Both directly and indirectly, the parents of the SHUSD support the classroom teachers with hours of help for their students.

Due to the efforts of parent-operated fundraising programs, parents provide many extra services and resources for students. Organizations such as the Parent Teacher Groups and the St. Helena Public Schools Foundation donate innumerable hours and vital funds each year to support the students, teachers and programs of our schools.

It is hoped that each parent will find a way to contribute because children make a stronger connection to the school experience if their parents are also connected.

Volunteers are welcome to share their time on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Anyone interested in participating in our school by volunteering is welcome to contact your student’s teacher or the school office for more information. We will direct you to the groups that would most suit your skills or interest.
